Investors in People
Crown Hills has been granted the prestigious “Investors in People” award.
As a part of that process we continue to invest heavily in all of our staff.
A copy of the annual INSET return is available from the College.
Crown Hills has a full complement of teachers, who are well qualified and well trained.
We have not found recruitment a problem.
Such is our reputation for our school-based training, that we have been asked by the University of Leicester and the Open University, to become one of their main “partnership” schools.
This is a mark of excellence.
We communicate staff changes to parents and governors through regular newsletters.
In Crown Hills we are committed to providing an excellent education for our students.
We do this in many ways, which include:
- Having a clear set of aims, values, policies and procedures
- Having a clear organisational structure that is comprehensive and effective
- Appointing, supporting and developing positive and skillful staff to ensure effective teaching and learning
Performance management is a part of the process of school improvement to develop all staff and improve teaching and to raise standards of achievement for all children.
The Crown Hills Performance Management Policy is based on the Performance Management system which came into statutory force in September 2007.
This policy covers all teachers except teachers on contracts of less than one year and those in their induction year.
All teachers were consulted in developing this policy.
It sets a framework for all staff to agree and review priorities and objectives within the context of the school’s development plan and their own professional needs.
The main concern in planning the Diary and Directed Time is to make maximum use of a very scarce and valuable resource: teacher time.
SLT reviews the use of time annually and has put together a plan to enable us to share best practice and to create some training opportunities.
The Monday meetings cycle for teachers includes: faculty meetings, an Extended Leadership Team, Year Team meetings as well as Twilight Teaching and learning training sessions.
The school day finishes at 3.15 and the Monday meetings should start at 3.30pm.
- Twilight training sessions are on Mondays from 3.30 until 5.15pm.
- This package leaves Tuesdays, most Wednesdays and most Thursdays for other activities at teachers’ discretion.
It also allows a greater flexibility for extra curricular activities that will enhance the breadth and achievement of students.
- Staff new to Crown Hills are expected to attend a series of Induction Meetings.
